My Fair Lady Musical

My thoughts on My Fair Lady and Organizational Culture

Organizational Culture

When analyzing The Key to Organizational Learning from Edgar Schein, he discusses how it is crucial to remain competitive as an organization by constantly innovating to keep up with the present times.

When watching the Play My Fair Lady, it was evident that they used Edgar Schein’s example of successful organizational learning of short-run adaptive learning and genuine innovations to create the context (background) of My Fair Lady. The short-run adaptive learning and genuine innovation of the context was evident through the artistic ability of what was painted. If you paid attention to the details of what was painted, you would find that the artists mainly focused on their personal skills of painting to create the spectacular art of the set through short-run adaptive learning because they are good at painting, which is what they know and do best.

Next, the stage crew formulated genuine innovations by creating an improved standard of transition between each Act. Their efforts from an audience perspective made it seem as if the change in scenes was not so pronounced, yet subtle as if the stoppage in the acting and singing still allows the play to proceed entertainingly.

Reflection

To conclude, I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the musical My fair Lady while in London. As someone who typically does not enjoy musical performances, I must say that my mother was telling me the truth when she told me that I would love My Fair Lady. I will surely recommend My Fair Lady to anyone interested, and I hope to see it again in the future.
